eyes of Aphrodite & the 3 Virtues

Perception – The Eyes of Aphrodite, a Gif(T) sent on International Women’s Day, March 8th 2021.
And Aphrodite’s triptych, the Three Virtues: i.e. inner knowing, listening and speaking her Truth.

Ray of Light

Captured at the same spot and same time of the day, in my hometown, Leuven.

Just when the light hit the corner of Bondgenotenlaan and the square Martelarenplein.

Cyclist going home. Either satisfied, or relieved, or when noticing me, a questionable look on their faces. (2018)

Land & Sea

Human primal fascination for the boundaries of land and sea. Where it ends and where it begins.

Representing also the cycli of life and death, rise and cessation, and the elements of water, air, and earth.

Added by a human scale, to realise our small significance in the large spectrum of the universe. (2018)

Elevations

Elevations: front, side and perspective. Just like in architecture, with a monumental and glorious building. Standing proud into space.

This series gives a sort of uniformity to who we are, us Humans. There lies the universal, and a oneness that connects us all. (2018)

world citizen

A photo series that encapsulates and strengthens the idea of a world citizen. We are born into this planet in a human form which is quite magnificent. What are the odds to that?

As humans we often overcomplicate things. In this series i want to accentuate the connectedness and oneness that we all share. A sense of Belonging. Together. Here & Now.

Birthplace : Earth, Race : Living Being (Human), Politics : Peace (Freedom), Religion : Love.

All is Love. ∑ ≈ µ • c˜♡

Metatron’s Cube

The sacred geometry printed on the photographs are one of the five Platonic solids. These solids can be used to represent our entire cosmos, i.e. earth, water, fire, air and the ether.

Furthermore, the Metatron’s Cube symbolises magic, alchemy and containment. This works was part of an installation,

with a large physical model of a wooden dodecahedron inside of a aluminium framed cube; 5 smaller physical models; and a orthogonally flattened cube on tracing paper. (2019)

Rona Vesica Phi

Glimpses of realities, like layered billboard details, trash on the sidewalks, front doors, prohibition signs, empty construction sites,… seen through the lens of the Golden Ratio & Phi geometry.

Looking at the world like a model. 🌐An attempt to make sense of the ‘new normal’, and as means of searching for harmony and structure, with it’s function of a Rona Blueprint.

Part of coVidere _19/20 Journal 🌏 📲Captured with mobile phone during Lockdown 1.0 (May-July 2020).

homage to Hypercube

Metatron’s Cube, ultimately represents Magic, Alchemy, and containment. It is the Box and the Incubator, in which breeds the First Light.

Metatron’s Cube is the incubator of 3D, the Tesseract of 4D, also known as the Hypercube.

Digital Art. Sketched on iPad. 🎲 12 colour codes, 220 combinations to choose from ⬛ 8 sub-series within this 💯day project.

January – May 2021

3 6 9 samsara

Maple seeds, childhood memories. Here shown as documented into a typology.

A wordplay of Samara, dry fruit maple seed, and Saṃsāra, the Sanskrit word, meaning: world. It is also the concept of rebirth and cycles of all life, matter, existence.

3, 6, 9 is referring to Nikola Tesla’s work: If you only knew the magnificence of the 3, 6 and 9, then you would have the key to the universe. This also connects to Plato and Pythagoras. (2022)

iString Perspective

self and non-self

The Self and Non-Self, Anattā in Buddhism. In the particular lies the universal.

Most of my life i’ve been walking in the shadows, fairly invisible. I didn’t mind. I never felt the need to take up space, as i didn’t truly fit in into this world. That changed drastically during my Saturn Return.

A phase of deep self-reflection and soul-searching. It resulted in a big I-AM-ness. I’ve never felt so alive, and purposeful, by being fully landed here on Earth.

A decade later i found the term for this not-fitting-in: a StarSeed, with its core into Belonging of this Becoming, for her more an un.Becoming. Thus gave me this clear mission statement. ♡

variations of Hypercube

Metatron’s Cube is the incubator of 3D, the Tesseract of 4D, also known as the Hypercube.

A 100-day project using the colour combination of the 💯day project made in 2021. 6 grids of 100 hypercubes.

Digital Art. Sketched on iPad. 🎲 Daily variations of 1 colour combination.

February – May 2022

Distortion – Photographic Stories

Imaginary worlds are created by turning the environment 90 degrees. How the surroundings have an effect on the human mind and body is challenged in this series.

And tell a story of the mind and body disconnection. These are moments captured that tell a narrative at a particular time and place that can’t be replicated as

feelings and thoughts change within our environment. These photographic stories are my way of detailing various fears and exploring imaginary, metaphysical worlds. (2011)

colour cubes

For this year’s 100-day project I’m continuing further on previous project i.e. colour combinations and colour palettes. Now I want to accentuate the 3 colours selected each day, this by including the grey scale of each colour on top, 3 of the 12 colour codes and these 3 colours in a colour wheel below.

I see it as a colour study playbook, one that I can use in my next work, whether it’s painting, colouring, illustration, video or an interior.

Abstract Forms

There is a visual play using the camera as an ‘abstracting eye’ to magnify beauty and magic, by meeting the object’s shadow.

Ordinary and banal kitchen objects are seen under harsh light, i.e. an external flash. Reality is blended into a distorted, fractured vision,

as the naked human eye can’t see what’s happening, perhaps in a fraction of seconds. (2018)

Ways of Unfolding

Ways of Unfolding through Architectural Photography

is a search of our visual world that is ever changing. Our eyes receive an overload of images every day, especially in this Digital Age we are living in.

It takes the viewer through four architectural series, tackling different themes and philosophical topics to unravel life’s mysteries, underlined with optical illusion.

Series: a) Blurred imprints on the Eye’s Retina, b) Mirrored Deconstructive Abstractions, c) Assembled Mapped Contextualities, and d) Perspective of a Miniature Cosmos. (2018)

Moksha – a quest

Originated from Martine’s personal MRI’s and made into digital artwork. Art is used as a healing tool, i.e. revealing cellular memories locked inside the Body, or one of a retention of the collective Mind.

Some surrealistic influences can be noticeable, eg. the use of childlike elements, the simplicity of the shapes and forms, and bright colours.
The name Moksha refers to Martine’s soul searching,

questioning the meaning of life and the universal energy.
In Buddhism, Goddess Saraswati has been highly worshiped as they believe that only She can grant them ‘Moksha’, the final liberation of the Soul.

Moksha – a quest during Saturn Return, 2016.

tangrams

a 100-day project, working on colour and compositions, and also something fun: back to my childhood games.

🔺⬛ Tangram square with 7 pieces. Continuing on previous the 100-day project 2021 for colour combinations.
